Fillers for Puhovykov

The choice of high-quality, warm and convenient winter jacket depends not only on its style, length and manufacturer. The main indicator of its durability and ability to maintain heat is filler.

Types of fillers

For its origin, fillers are divided into 2 groups: natural and artificial.

Each group has its advantages and disadvantages. For example, natural fillers are better kept warm, but harder in care. Synthetic is worse heated, but they do not cause allergies.

Natural fillers

The most popular natural filler, thanks to which the name – “down jacket” appeared. Its advantages include excellent heat saving ability, softness, ease, durability.

Among the disadvantages it should be noted high cost, special conditions for cleaning or washing, the possibility of allergic reactions.

The insulation is most often used by the fluff of goose, ducks, swan or gaga.

Pooh Gaga

It is considered the warmest, but also the most expensive from the filled fillers. Ideal for the most severe climatic conditions and for long walks in the fresh air.

Pooh duck and goose

This is the most common option. Most often additionally mixed with a synthetic filler, it allows you to significantly reduce the cost of the down jacket.

Pooh + Pen

Filling down jackets from pure fluff belong to the most expensive price of down jackets. Most often you can find the ratio of the fluff and pen – 80/20 and 70/30, where the first indicator is the percentage of the fluff.

The higher the first indicator, the down jacket is adapted to colder and harsh conditions.

Clothes with a percentage of the Pooh below 70% can be worn in spring-autumn periods.

The data on the composition of the filler is usually indicated on the label.

If the label is written “100% down”, this means that the filler is the fluff. The inscription “Feather” means that the filler is the fluff + pen. “IntelligentDown” – Pooh + Synthetic Filler.

Upper clothes with a woolen filler can be called the down jacket only conditionally, because in its composition there is no fluff as such. Rather, it is already winter jacket.

The benefits of wool can be attributed to the excellent ability to maintain heat and low cost.

Disadvantages: the possibility of shrinkage when washing, the possibility of allergic reactions, high weight.

Artificial fillers

It is inexpensive at the price of artificial material that does not absorb moisture and keeps warm well. Its substantial disadvantages include loss in the volume after the first washing.

Thin, lightweight material that pushes moisture and keeps fine. The down jacket with such a filler will quickly dry after washing and does not lose its initial view even after a long period of socks.

Hollofiber – Synthetic Spiral Fiber Filler. Light, warm, hypoallergenic, sufficient volumetric material.

Often, a mixture of natural and artificial fillers is used as a filler for the down jacket. Synthempuch has excellent operational properties, it is very light, perfectly saves heat, it is well tolerate washing and drying.

Other fillers

Among other fillers of artificial origin can be noted Tinsulyt, Primaloft and many others.

Choice rules

  1. To the down jacket reliably warmed in the coldest winter days it is necessary that there are at least 500 – 600 g of filler.
  2. In order for the insulation to the most evenly distributed on the surface of the down jacket, it is placed in special square or rectangular blocks. The insulation must move freely inside the block, not to be seized and not to form lumps.
