In Russia and in the world, in general, not so many factories producing such interesting musical instruments like harmony. Often the harmonies are made by handmade masters, which can be counted on the fingers of one hand. Such quite a bit, the masters are not young. Let’s talk about the harmonics of the Tula factory – the first in Russia, the company producing harmony and other branch musical instruments.
When LLC Tulskaya Harmonime originated, not just – the topic is ambiguous. The history of the factory begins at the beginning of the XIX century, when in the city of Tula brothers Shkunayev, the first primitive harmonics in Russia are manufactured in Russia. Behind them Tula gunmaire Timofey Vorontsov starts making the simplest harmonics. In 1830, Ivan Sizov opens its own production on its modest facilities, according to the sample, which brought from the Nizhny Novgorod Fair.
In Tula, the Kiselev Brothers Factory, which produced Viennese harmonics was widely known. In 1900, at the international exhibition in Paris, harmonics were marked and received awards. A little later in the factory began to make three-row chromatic harmonies, closest in its device to modern chromatics.
In general, Russian harmonics differed their ranks – the chromatic system was absent.
Without chromatic system, not to play many musical works, so other interesting technical solutions were opened on the way to its introduction, including patented. For example, Gennady Stockhkov at the family enterprise invented a system of borrowed bass for a two-row Vienna harmonica.
One of these breakthroughs was the harmonic, created by local tradesman. AND. Beloborodov and L. BUT. Chulkov – famous in Tula Master on sketches. AND. Beloborodova collected a two-row chromatic harmony with a keyboard of a piano type and a rich finish. Unusual, even for our time, the tool was made of cypress, decorated with ivory, brass and pearl.
In the USSR, the first Tula Artel in 1922 organized harmonious cases Master A. NS. Pastukhov. Before creating his own artel, shepherds worked at the Kiselev Brothers Factory. Shepherds engaged in the manufacture of three-row harmony and did the best orchestral accordions.
The factory production of harmonies begins at the end of the 20s and early 30s, when it became clear that the scene was inappropriate. 6,000 people were involved in this factory. Over the years, production expands, the range of harmonic produced increases. In the war years, the factory stops its activities, but in 1943 the work on it resumes the numerous requests of the front-line. In the same year, it was decided to create a craft school based on Arteel.
In the history of “Tula Harmony” Mass awards and assigned titles. But the main thing is to recognize musicians and folk love. Not only lovers play on harmony and butyans, but also glorified world performers and musical groups. Nowadays, the quality of musical instruments of the Tula factory is also valued.

Double-row three-voice harmony “Kulikovo Field” represents the next “level” of the tool in the range and is more expensive. It differs from its predecessor design, and most importantly – the material of the manufacture of levers. Unlike the harmony “Tula 301m” with iron levers (buttons themselves are installed on them), on the model “Kulikovo field” are wooden. It can make their own adjustments in the choice of tools. - Color execution.
“Custom” – a whole class of harmonic. There are multi-dimmable harmonies, with conventional and chore registers, with different types of slats. All options should be specified when ordering harmony in factory.
The price of each tool is individual and depends on many parameters:
- Various tool options+
- Material levers+
- Type of belts+
- Color (white harmonies are an order of magnitude more expensive).
Harmonic – a high-precision tool and quite fragile. The product does not tolerate high temperatures, for example, when playing a fire or when storage is allowed from heating batteries. Planks of harmonies are attached to wax or thermoplastic, so they can melt and deform, wood is also dependent on temperatures.
Humidity – the main enemy of harmony. Vibrations and strikes also do not contribute to long and carefree operation – can deteriorate and knock down mechanics. The tool should be kept on the side, on special plastic stands – only so you can prevent the deformation of mechanics, keep the fur intention and compression inside.
Operation also depends on the material from which the keys levers are made. Iron levers work perfectly in all conditions. Wooden provide light key keys, but due to excess moisture (for example, on the street) can start to establish. It is important to take into account if the plans include musitizing on the street.
Should be protected by harmonic fur. They are responsible for compression inside the tool.
Careful storage of products on the side and regular cleaning of the folds of fur – the key to long.
In compliance with all the above recommendations, specifications will be perfectly saved. This will allow you to play your favorite melodies in the appropriate tool conditions for many years, not overwhelming everyday life and holidays with independent repair or search of the Master.
